Citizen's Police Academy As part of our Community Policing efforts, the Perry Township Police Department continues to host the Citizen's Police Academy. The Citizen's Academy affords residents of Perry Township the opportunity to get an in depth look at how the police department functions as an integral part of the community. The class coordinators are Officers Bill Watson and Mike Pomesky. Students will hear from Perry Police Officers as well as other local officials from the criminal justice community of Stark County. Classes focus on the the department's role in the community, it's purpose for existence, principle accountabilities, goals, mission, and objectives but primarily it is an information sharing agenda. Students will have the opportunity to tour the Canton-Stark County Crime Lab, The Massillon City Jail, the Municipal Court and to ride along with Perry Police Officers as they perform their duties. The Citizen's Academy is open to Perry Township residents. The Citizen's Academy is an 11 week course, one 3 hour night per week. There is a $35.00 charge for the 11 week course to help cover the costs of materials. The Academy agenda is a follows:
We are in the process of scheduling the next Citizen's Academy. This will be the 7th Academy. We plan to hold 2 - 3 Academies per year. The class size is limited to about 20 people.
